The Nix family founded Wetumka’s first funeral home in the early part of the 1900s. The funeral home was ran out of the back of the hardware store, because in those days most undertakers did their funeral directing part time while practicing carpentry as their primary trade. Most people had their funerals in their own home, so funeral directors simply provided caskets and a few other furnishings.
In the 1930s the funeral home moved to its current location on Main Street and became a full service funeral home, and it has served the community since then. Donnie Williamson took over the funeral home in 1984–a homecoming for the native Wetumkan after a few years working as a funeral director in Muskogee. Donnie also became the youngest funeral home owner in Oklahoma.
Donnie has managed Williamson-Spradlin since then and in the summer of 2016 he brought Eric Kroier in as a partner in the business. Together, they are working to provide the service and care that the people of the community deserve.
